The quick and summarized version is you need to supply ground to pin 12 on the black pcm connector to activate the extended idle.
The long version is as follows:
As far as I know all of the OBD2 jeep cherokees come with the programing to utilize the extended idle feature that was optional on the police package cherokees. On the 2000 cherokee the wire is a grey signal ground that is pin A12 on the C1 connector which is the black connector on the pcm. I know on mine has the 18 gauge grey wire running from the pcm connector (C1) to C107 that is located by the oil dipstick tube right next to the two transmission connectors. The wire does not pass through the connector to go inside to C100.
My plan is to replace the pin in the C1 connector with a new pin (TE-1437284-9) with a new wire running with my fan harness to the passenger side. This way im not digging into my factory harness in a very hard to reach location. On the passenger side of my jeep is where I have an auxbeam switch pannel. The switch pannel only interups power and does not interrupt ground. My plan is to use a relay wired up to connect ground when energized.
Relay wiring:
Pin 30 ground
Pin 86 will be positive trigger from switch pannel
Pin 87 will be ground to ecm
Pin 85 will be ground
Wiring the relay this way should connect the wire coming from the pcm to ground that will command the pcm to high idle when the jeep is in park or neutral. I'm doing all of this work to be able to high idle my jeep for winching other people and to have high idle to help the fan spin faster to hopefully have slightly colder ac when in park on the trail.
