So i had a little help as i was installing my new slave cylinder into my 97 TJ and my friend pushed the clutch before i had the lower half into the tranny and it extended the push rod all the way out. how do i push it back in bc i can not get it to budge.

There should be a set screw type bleeder on the top. I would crack that free. You will need to rebleed it once you get it put back in there.

i'm pretty sure that it's a sealed system.

looks like there are some different info but there's a thread that might help?

Seems like everyone has a different idea on how this thing works, im thinking im just gonna order a new one and put the old one back in and try and return it. Mine has a piece on it that looks like where a bleeder screw would go but nothing in it. Must just be a sealed system. Im going to put the lower half into the transmission first this time so no one pushed my clutch again!

Dang you guys must love listening to all the e-knowitalls who post on other web sites...

It is NOT a sealed system. Yes it can be purchased as a complete system, pre-bled, but im sure its for people who can't read or follow directions on how to bleed something.

From the link you posted above.

#1 is a roll pin if you push that out the metal tube/hose nipple will slide out. It is O-ringed so its a pretty simple setup.

#2 is an allen head set screw bleader. Metric IIRC its 5mm. you can bleed from that point...

Note: I have a factory slave and a brand new setup in a box made by Sachs (sp) both have the bleed ports... Sometimes they will with crud or rust, its a small allen wrench.

I pushed the pin out and pulled the line out but still cant get the shaft to go in more than half an inch which is not near enough, its loose and wiggles around and just wont go all the way backin. Any ideas from here?

Alternatively you can get rid of the crappy, plastic, prone to failure, OEM assembly and replace it with cheaper, more reliable, easier to find parts.

I replaced my external slave with a GM #15534378, for a Camaro I think. Gets rid of the plastic line, which melted on me at Harlan last year, then you can use standard brakeline and fittings.
