Ok, so at Mnt City a couple weekends ago, I noticed I had broken both of the bolts in my Dana 60 that hold spring plate and spring to the axle.

Broken off well below the surface, between 1/2" and 3/8" deep.

I tried several methods, no go

I put a 3/8" nut in the hole, welded thru the center, then another nut on top of that, but it twisted off. I tried several times.

I just needed more area to weld, without getting into the threads.

Wahlah

I had some bushings to go into a 5/8" heim to neck it down to 1/2" so I did the same thing, welded through the middle, then a nut on top of that. Bingo!

Some easy turning back and forth, and lots of penetrating oil, and I was able to bring them both out!

Now, that made my day!

dagum that took some fine thinkin damn busted bolts are bad enough without being broke that deep fine job!

a small suggestion, i've seen that happen to several people, go ahead and swap over to a u bolt conversion for it and that will keep it from happening because if they don't break they usually strip out

I have not seen one, is this something on the market??

I just drilled a 5/8" hole through the webbing and got a u-bolt sized to go around the chunk.
