Alright guys i need some help deciding what to do here. i have a 86 f150 long bed reg cab sittin on 35's. it has the 8.8 rear and is a open difff from the factory. my carrier bearing went out Friday night so now its time to upgrade. i'm going to be putting in a 4:10 R&P (old one is 3:55), but i also want to put a locker or something in too. this truck is mostly on the street, only drivin to work and to town on weekends but still ends up in some mud sometimes. here is what I've looked into: Ford Trac-Loc new, Auburn ECTED locker, mini spool, full spool, and a lock right. Any input will be appreciated thanks

Since you'll be driving on the street, steer away from the spool/mini spool. I grenaded mine and the cross shaft just backing up a few weeks ago. Albeit, I was pretty damn hard on it previously.

IMO, the ECTED would be the better decision. However, have you thought about a lunchbox locker like the Aussie or Lock-rite? Spartan doesn't yet make one for the 8.8, but the Aussie is similarly priced and has great ratings. Around $260 for the 8.8.

thanks for the info on the aussie locker. I've never heard of that company before and that seems to be the way to go. hopefully i can get it back on the road real soon.
