OK, I gotta '00 F250, 7.3,

It has the switch on the dash for 4X4. Problem is, the hubs wont engage. It has the manual overide hubbs so at least I can still use 4 wheel.

The vacum lines that feed the hubbs was dry rotted pretty bad and lose on the barbs. I replaced them but still wont engage. And I cant seem to find any vacum leaks.

Any body got any ideas?????

It looks like the right side axel seal is leaking. Is the whole axel housing under pressure in 4x4?

Guess I got alot of work to do.....

Just encountered this problem myself. Check that you are getting vacuum at the hubs. You'll need a vac gauge for this or just stick your tongue to it to see if you feel vacuum. Both lines converge on the passenger side inner framerail and go up to a vacuum switch right behind the battery on the pass. side. You can see if the switch is working. It will open when you switch it into 4wd. There is also the vacuum motor just to the left of the switch. To see if you have a vacuum leak turn the key, and you should hear the vac motor running, it should stop as soon as the vac pressure is reached (usually takes under 30 secs for me). It it keeps running then you have a vac leak or the motor isn't building pressure. Another way to tell if you have a leak is that your heat vent door won't open close because I think it is vac actuated.

If the vac system checks out then you'll have to rebuild the hubs more than likely. (replace them with real hubs) Thats what I plan to do when I get some free $. My problem was that they weren't unlocking, and sometimes not locking.

I replaced the driver hub about s year ago. It wouldn't unlock.

Im getting vacum on the passenger side but it'd real week. None on the driver side. Maybe the lines linked.

I've looked for after market hubbs but can't find any. What are you planning to replace yours with?

2000 didn't have the D-60 up front did it? I've got a set of hubs off a 2003 D-60 F-250.

D50 & D70

early production 2002 had Dana 50.
mid year 2002 switched to the Dana 60. (don't know exactly how accurate this is. Found it online.)

You can get the replacement warn hubs for it. I did this on my excursion, only bad thing is you loose the auto lock. Didn't matter to me rather get out and turn them than wonder if the auto is gona work this time

Doesn't really matter. I haven't really had any trouble with the factory ones. I do like having the shift on the fly... But, I have allready replaced one factory for 300 bucks. If I have to replace the other, I would just as soon upgrade....

Yea I agree the factory set up is much nicer, the only reason I replaced my with the warns is because I had one factory auto lock hub go bad and the previous owner replaced the unit bearing and left the big o-ring off. I bought warn kit from napa for 100 less than the price of one factory Ford unit. My local napa keeps the warns in stock. But like Russ said I'd check for vacuum leaks and vacuum pump
