Anyone out there with the fab skills/shops thought of making a set of XJ tube fenders? Are there any on the market? I called and talked with a guy at "Searchers Offroad" who said that the set on the net was a one-off pretty much, but he was considering making these "bolt on" for b/w $8-900 a set. Anyone want to try these in there shop? Surely they can be made/sold cheaper? I don't know. Any suggestions?

Rick,
Just let me know, I would be more than happy to put a set together for you for quite a bit less than that.

Have to be honest here, I would think any of the fab guys here could make a better looking set for a lot less.

they're just about identical to yours Richard. I'd like to see how they mount on the XJ though. If you flop it decently it may tweak the mounting points under the hood and be even more of a PITA.

For 8-900 they should look a lot smoother than that. kind of choppy lookin. Almost looks like some High-tech redneck fabbing. If you tied them into some sliders and a heavy front bumper it might be a really good idea. Not so sure I would want it totally attched to the door pillar.

I considered this for awhile but gave up b/c i just throught it would look like crap. Exo cage is probably a more feasable idea.

If anyone comes up w/ some that actually look good please post pics.

Yea those thing look pretty ugly. I like the concept but there has to be a way to have form and function. Rick are wanting to put fenders back on yours?

Troy,

Yeah, I thought I'd out a set of tube fenders though to go with the rest of the tubing that is on my rig... Also, I'd like to tube the corners (some how) to offer some protection for the lights and beef the bumper up some and build off it for a winch. Hopefully I'll be in a position to do this sometime soon...BUSY!!

you ought to just buy some conduit and JB Weld and have at it yourself...

I know what you mean about no time. Yesterday was the first time I have started the XJ in 3 weeks. I can not even the last time I moved the YJ. At least will be out wheeling next week.
