Faces of meth

whats up with all the sores on their faces?


i have a buddy i went to HS with that is supposedly on that shit :(
we grew up together, he was one of my best friends in elementary and middle school but
i havent seen him since my freshman year of college. he got in with the "wrong crowd" and everyone that has seen him lately says he is rail thin, and he wasnt exactly skinny before. i just dont understand it.

ahhh, ive heard of the notorious "scratch" but never thought that it was so bad that it would cause sores.
 
It is also called tweaking, and they get fixated with a certain spot, and pick at it until it is a big sore.
 
I saw something like this a few years back but it was a series of mugshots of the same woman over a couple of years, maybe 10, who was hooked on that crap. It was rediculous how much worse she looked with every mugshot.

Physiologically, the meth causes constriction of blood vessels. This makes them weaker, and areas that already have really thin/small layers of vasculature (e.g., face) are particularly prone to damage, makes sores appear sooner.

the tweaker picks at it, making it worse.

I am no advocate for drugs. There are many kinds of drugs out there you can use for, er, recreation. Some are not so bad for you, affect only very specific parts of your body for short terms. Some are. This is by far one of the worst. if you're gonna pick a drug, please don't choose this one!

The biggest problem is that even though the afteraffects are so bad, and any reasonable person would say "You'd have to be stupid to do thi", the addiction potential of meth is waaaay higher than most other drugs.
I will try *almost* anything once. But not this!

On a more serious note. Those pictures are all from the Multnomah County Sheriffs department which is just south of where I grew up back home in Washington St. The county I'm from is actually nicknamed meth county(Cowlitz County) due to the number of meth related charges and crimes. I've seen many a good person ruined by meth. Friends, coworkers and many many more. After seeing what it can do to a person, I'd consider it the worst drug out there. I've seen too many people hooked on it after just their first time.
