not really sure what to get my pops for fathers day. i was gonna get a nice grill kit with one of the digital remote thermometers but ive heard those things take a crap really fast. what are you getting your dad?

Sawzall i think. Everyone needs one of those!

snuck out and took pics of my 19-month-old son sitting in my dad's airplane, and also standing outside...popped 'em in some frames...and pretty sure it's gonna be a winner!!

My Dad passed 2 years ago, I'm ok with that, but there are times I sure would like to ask him something. He had all the answers :) I also have 2 kids but they are a long way away from me. IMO, if possible, the best gift would be a day spend with your Dad. I know personally, I don't want anything in the way of a gift, saw, hammer, etc from my kids. I just want to see them and spend some time with them. If you can woek it out, any way you can, go spend the day, at least the afternoon or something with your Dad, that'd be the best present of all.

thats pretty neat. what kind of plane is it?

Cessna 172...my dad has had it for probably 25-30 years, and actually had his pilot's license before he had his driver's license...

the first two pics are the ones I had printed and framed...the third gives you a better look at the plane...

nice plane. it looks similar to the archer we charter. my good buddy is a pilot, we go up flying about once every 2 weeks

i think im going to actually just charter a plane and take my dad up because he was talking about how neat it sounded last time we got back from the mountains. maybe fly up to boone and go fishing and grab dinner for the day and then come home. it would be more memorable then the grill set anyways. haha

Like John, I lost my Dad back in 2001. I remember the last Fathers day. Well it was actually the day before on a Saturday. I spent the whole day with him. I did all the things around his house he was wanting done. Fixed his Jeep truck, trimmed shrubs, sprayed round up, cleaned gutters and so on. He sat and watched me work, we talked. That was his last good day according to my mom. By good day she meant that he was able to stay up, he eat good, and seemed happy. He died the following July.
So what John said is right on the money. No gifts necessary(but I do like the picture Idea) just time spent is the best.

that sounds like a cool idea...

we would occasionally fly to the beach for seafood...but living in Wilmington, that's not as big a deal for you...somewhere in the mountains would be neat...

my dad has done aerial photography on the side for at least 30 years now...
