my roomate is having a hard time decideing if he wants to sell his rig or not.
It's an '86 Dodge Ramcharger with a 6" skyjacker lift and 3" body lift, its on brand new 37 MTRs with new black rock crawler wheels. New true dual exhaust, good 50ft paint job, looks great till you see the top. Brand new recovered seats, he paid $250 (i think) to get covered and fixed. intereior is in fairly good shap. it has a 318, tf727, 208, d44 front 9.25 rear. the axles are geared to 4.56, front has cross over steering and the rear has a detroit. new rebuilt steering box with holes drilled for hydro assist steering. no front drive shaft. It needs a new underhood wiring harness (bad) and the 318 could go for a good lookin over (rebuild) too.
He isn't quite sure if he wants to sell it, but he just got one of those nice orange stickers that say it needs to go or the city will make it go. Pretty sure he wants someing like $4500 for it? not too sure, but like i said just a feeler post for the roomy.

in all honesty, not trying to be mean, but when i saw $4500, i laughed. 1500 is more feasible. granted, its locked/geared, has some lift and tires, but you also say it really needs a wire harness and the motor could stand a rebuild. its a sharp looking truck from the pics, but the market for dodges is weak, especially 20 year old ram chargers.

Last Ramcharger I had was an 79, and I paid $2500 for it, in CA, in 1990. So yeah, I'm thinking it's overpriced.

Come on guys, those single bolt recovery hooks must add some value. If it were parked in a single space he might not get those orange stickers.

hahahah that is almost exaclty what I was gonna type...

now if that had a cummins in it I would buy it in a heartbeat

ahaha that's some junk. that motor doesn't need a rebuild, it's only got ~60k on it. it's one of the better running older 318's i've come across. trans is dead solid also. overall, it's probably one of the nicer RC's you'll come across, around here anyway. it does have some underhood electrical gremlins that need to be tracked down, but i've seen nothing that wouldn't take an hour or two by someone competent. imo 4500 or so is a very fair asking price.

why did he get an orange sticker? is it not in your parking lot? as long as it moves around every so often i don't see what they can do.

Haha, you called him roomy. Homo

But seriously the truck is pretty solid, as Ivan said. Damn nice interior for it's age. Just a few small things here and there, and few wiring gremlins. If people can sell stock to mild built CJs for that price I don't see why not a RC.

Well you can sell a CJ for that because there is a demand for them. KBB on this thing is not near 4500. Not that I trust KBB, but atleast it puts a value on something. I am not saying this isn't worth some cash, but if the only problem is a few grimlins under the hood in the electrical it is better to fix them and then try to sell it. People don't pay 4500 for a CJ that kindof works. They pay 4500 for a solid CJ. Electrical problems can be big or small. If this only has a little problem, the owner is better off fixing that before selling it. I still don't think he will find 4500 for it without the girl.
Just a few month ago I had to put $1500 into a TJ so that I could sell it and cover the loan amount. It sucks to do, but better than loosing all the money if the city is going to take it.

does the girl come with it for $4500??
eh, she's alot of the reason it doesn't get the tlc it needs. that and i'm not sure if she's even 18 yet, i know she def. isn't out of high school:flipoff2:

figured that post would come up, but like i said thats why i did this as a "feeler". Also... ditto what Ivan said; she just turned 18 last week.....
