alright so i just put new 31's on my xj with a 3 in. lift. i need to cut my fenders, just the outside where the flares are/used to be, cuz when i flex out it bends my fenders. whats the best way to go about doing this?

on my new fenders I left the flares on and cut around them with a cut off wheel. My old ones I used a reciprocating saw(air saw or sawzall) On the rear slice the quarter between the spot welds and fold them in do not cut above the spot welds.

best way is just to do it. dont think too much about it just jumo into it. you will find out how easy it is once you asre cutting it. i used a air cut off tool and a dewalt sawzall. make sure you dont cut through the pinch welds on the rear or you will be in for a hell of a time welding it back.this link should be all the info you need.

Jig saw with a fine tooth metal blade. Nice clean cut.

Just save your trimmed piece from the first side to transfer over to the other side to keep them looking the same.

thanks guys. so i shouldnt get a professional to do it?

Dude, I'm 18 and did mine and they look fine. It's a simple process. I got carried away though and cut and folded my lower quarters while I was at it. They were pretty rusted though.
