Day one, taught him how to run a forklift and the techniques for shifting an 18 speed.
Day two- he's off to Boone tomorrow on a delivery.
Retired from the state, looking for something to kill time until full retirement kicks in another 8-10 years.
Whew.
Props to @thebrotherinlaw for helping out so much lately.

That does not make sense. Once you retire you immediately begin receiving your benefits. Or is he talking about social security.
Social security and a cure for boredom.
In all seriousness, we pay very well for a not too hard at all job. It's a busy, but pretty chill job.

One of our drivers quit via text last night.

"Just so there are no surprises in the morning. I'm quitting. Not for me."

That was it. Did not respond to texts or calls after that. Wtf?
We had one quit to go work at a kayak manufacturer for less money and worse hours.
But he gets a discount on kayaks...

Don't lie...you'd love to quit and get a discount on bikes :D

Tonya's uncle retired at 48 after 30 years w the state.Same deal just looking for something to kill the time until SS kicks in.

True
Our position paid more and had much better hours, but wanted to immediately save $$$ on a new kayak. He got that day 1 at other place
Forest and trees and such. Ya know?
Should have sold him a canoe starter pack......pick your species!

Congrats!! Seems these days a good listener and quick learner are hard to find. We get a fair amount of bouncers come through here where I work. Some are lazy and predictable, others act like they have a point to prove. Whenever it's my turn to train one I always say: "Don't kill yourself, just take advice from the rest of us that's lived through it. We all started where you are".
