I have had a WVO tank in the bed of my truck for almost a year and I cannot use my Camper since there is no room.

I started this on Saturday with a trip to get some Steel. And with the help of one of our members here we used his plasma to cut out the panels for my new tank.

The tank started out to be a rectangle, but I forgot about the exhaust ...oops  so some modification was necessary.

Once that was done I could test fit it under the truck. It sticks down a little more than I would like but I do not want to give up the 50+ gallon Capacity. It is still not the lowest part of the Truck and since it is a pavement pounder only It is a non issue for me.

I got it in place so I could figure out where my fill neck was going. The fill neck is going to come out the right side of the License Plate. I moved the license plate to the left a few inches. Here is the Filler neck in place on the tank.

Looks good so far, are you going to make a skid plate for it?

Since this is a Veg Oil Tank I needed to heat it using Radiator Coolant. I need to do this especially in the winter when WVO turns to LARD. Heating will also help with the filtering process.

I am using some internal Steel Pipe to pump the Radiator Coolant through for the heater. This only needs to warm the tank up so the oil can be pumped and filtered before it gets to my heat exchanger whe it will the be heated up to around 180 Degrees.

I am Going to Weld the pipe together and pressure test it for leaks before it go in the tank. I Will Weld the pipes also to the bottom of the tank so they do not bounce around while Driving

Since me camper hangs over the end of the bed 2' refueling could be a problem So I got a Gator Lock Coupling.

This has cam lock and a seal so it will not leak. I got a plug for it that I am going to use as a cap.

When my Camper is on I will have a extension hose that will connect to the Gator lock on the truck an extend up in to a Side compartment in the camper. This way I will be able to Refuel with the camper on the truck.

#1 Would it be possible to build/ locate this so the exhaust pipe does your heating or is that impossible? (maybe a stupid question just thinking outside the box)

#2 I wouldnt be as worried about dragging the tank as I would a piece of road debris (rock, wood, piece of tire, etc.) flying up and gouging the tank

not really that would really a PITA.

I think I will just weld a skid plate to the bottom when I am all finished. Th lowest part of the truck is 3 inches lower than the tank
