Fireworks shows....

Winder GA has one of the best I've ever seen... that may be because they're launched across the street & explode directly overhead... twice as impressive when you FEEL the percussion in realtime! :D

Little known secret.... Lewisville, NC, at Shallowford Park. Best is Forsyth Co by far.
And along the lines of above... last year the best part was opening an umbrella to protect from the shrapnell as the exploded ovehead...

Troy, NC has a decent show plus its close to Uwharrie for the folks who will be wheeling that weekend. I am almost 100% sure that the fireworks show will be on July the 1st, a Saturday night. Show time 9:15pm.

Burlington, NC has a good show that will be on Monday July 3rd this year.

You could see both of those shows and still make another show on the 4th.

ive seen the ones in Washington DC on the 4th. Okay, but wayyyy too many people, its torture getting back to a hotel or somewhere else.

I saw ones at the University of Maryland last year. They were okay..

Not sure whats going on this year though, tomorrow im making an SC run to get some fireworks, so I may make my own show :flipoff2:

Morehead City has a really good one... They launch from an island across from the towns water front, they display over the water of the sound.... great to view from a boat, but along the shore of Morehead or Atlantic beach is always good too

fireworks

My church, the Tabernacle in Danville shoots off on the 2nd. Pretty massive display and you sit right under them on the lawn.

Best I ever saw was from Goat Mt in OR. We watched the fireworks in every town from Salem to Portland.

I booked an evening flight to Atlantic City (well Philly anyway) flew up the east coast and watch fireworks the whole flight, pretty cool. Captiva Island in Fla. has some pretty amazing ones as well, they don't allow lights on the beach (year round) most of the people around there have pretty deep pockets , so they always have a helluva show.

I caught them in Vegas one year...it sucked  Anything short of a nuclear bomb pales in comparison to the massive buidlings and lights on the strip.

Archer Lodge, July 1st, dark:30. weve been told repeatedly were the best show around. we make an all day event out of it, road race that morn, parade at 10, kiddie stuff around lunch, we take the engines up there at 2:30 and spray the kids with water, theres a cake walk, homemade ice cream, talent show, all sorts of good stuff.

Tweetsie Railroad.....
2nd best I have ever seen...and been there many times. We make a day of it so the kids can have fun at the park. Get there early....as they are opening... to get a space in the upper parking lot. The fireworks will be straight overhead.

Best....Tyndall Airforce Base.....Parker Fla., close to Panama City Beach.
The AF ammo guys do the show from an island in the bay and direct them toward the mainland. Best part was catching the underbrush on fire and watching them move the fireworks and keep firing!

Best I ever saw was Boston, MA. They set up a couple three barges in the river and have a battle. you can line up along both sides of the river, and on Boston side they have an amphi-theatre that an orchestra sets up in and plays .... crap what's the name of that song they play with fireworks..... :brainfart:

EDIT: OH! William Tell Overture! that's it...

that was gonna drive me nuts all day!

anyway... found this link

Navy Pier in Chicago is always good. :D That's where I'll be. DJ

Just got back from there. My wife and I took the Spirit of Chicago out for a dinner/fireworks cruise. That was pretty cool. They also had fireworks at Millennium park that you could see off the walls of the buildings.

Best one Ive seen was in Marion, VA.

For such a small town, it was incredible. Located in SW VA, on I-81 on the way to Bristol.

Don't know why, but the year I saw them it was on the week after the 4th and not the 4th. Guess they figured everyone would go out of town for the 4th so why not have the show when everyone returns...

Best Show I've been to...
(besides the Hickory Crawdads' show when the hill behind right field caught on fire, beside all the cars and propane tank!!! What a show!!!)

my wife and I have gone to the Outerbanks and checked out like all of the up and down the beach there. It is cool because you will be at one peir and then when it is done the next peir starts. you will see like 3 hours straight of nice shows. wont be going next year becase of the ACL surgery I just got out of about 2 hours ago.
