ARRRRRRRRRR, Oregon Inlet. I've passed by there probably a hundred times on surfing trips and have yet to get down there and do some fishing, how was it?
You are correct on the Oregon Inlet bridge. The fishin' was okay and if I can figure out how to downsize the picture to put on here I'll show you. I caught one 25" Red Drum that was a fight. Other than that it was mainly just small stuff. It's pretty cool to wheel the tow rig just to get to a spot to fish. I guess that is the biggest draw for me to that inlet. Next year we are going to Hatteras for the same trip instead of Nags Head.
You may also want to think about Cape Lookout, you can catch the ferry in Davis(about 30 miles from Beufort) and drive out on the beach and camp and fish,I was down there last week,it was plain awesome and the fishing was good, you can almost park under the lighthouse
Yes, The cap is an ARE. I had the factory put the "rails" on the top for my Yakima bike rack and I don't know what the weight limit is. The shell is awesome and I haven't owned a truck in 15 years without one. As for the camping on the beach, I plan this trip every year for a bunch of fireman I work with and we do an off shore boat charter as well as surf fishing and if the weather is too bad to go off shore we all hit the beach. Lotta fun and drinking as well as fishing. We did 2 years in VA beach and 4 years in Nags Head so now we are moving it to Hatteras.
