FJ40 Disc brakes conversion?

For the front, you can convert to the later model FJ40/FJ60 rotors, or since you'll want to upgrade to the minitruck knuckles, just get the whole setup from that. Whole axles can be had for little more than $150, and you can use the birfs, knuckles, spindles, lockouts, etc..

The only downside is that minitrucks are solid rotors, while the FJ's were all vented. Not a HUGE deal unless you drive alot loaded.

For the rear, I believe the setup is nearly the same as the minitruck kit, but since I had minitruck outers on my axle, I can't swear to it.

Don't forget, you'll want a 1" bore MC, or even a tad larger.. Later minitruck/FJ80 was 1" bore, bolts right up to your booster. I am/was running a 1" bore MC, and though I could bottom the pedal, it would damn near lock up the front 38's, would easily lock the rears. (You'll want an adjustable proportioning valve.)

use the toy stuff as Rich explained for the front....if you want to use the vented rotors....you just need to get a set of IFS calipers and a set of FJ40 rotors (disk of course) they will bolt up just like the toy solid rotor.

JT outfitters sells a kit to bolt on chevy calipers and rotors in the rear.

You need to think about a mastercylinder too....i dont think the stock one will not push enough fluid for all the disk.
