FJ40 - mating a Chevy 292 to the stock 3 speed

Anybody on here ever swap a Chevy inline 194/230/250/292 into an FJ40? I just picked up a FJ and based on the amount of water that came out of the oil pan, I dont have high hopes for the engine being any good. I've got a Chevy 292 on the stand and have seen that some folks swaps these in. I did see Advance Adapters had a Chevy v8 to FJ 3 speed adapter...basically a thin plate and a new bearing retainer. I figured it probably would work for an inline too.I've actually got similar spacer plate on a 250/T5 combo. Anybody have an real world experience with this swap?

Edit: found a post on IH8mud that’s says the inline will bolt right up to the three speed. We shall see...
