Looking for something for the wife for Christmas. Either a 37" or 40", LCD, 1080p. Not too sure what else to look for or where to find a good deal. Whatcha know?

yeah, vizio isnt bad. it's made by sony. buy one at sams and get their no questions return policy (nothing extra, just save the reciept).

i have a samsung DLP that im extremely happy with, but i feel like i paid a bit too much.

A DLP wont hang on the wall, atleast not as pretty as a plasma or lcd, but it's light enough to build a shelf for. and it doesnt require some funky wall hanger. your not going to smash your fingers 7 times just trying to get the frikkin thing on there.....

man...i dont even wanna talk about it anymore. i like DLPs.

I sell LG, Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, and can even got pioneer elite. Best bang for the buck would be either the LG or Panasonic. You may want to ck with the local Tweeter, they are closing all of there stores in the next month or so, and you can get some good deals, although you would probably be screwed with warranty and service. If you are looking for great warrant and service purchase from a local custom shop. My 2 pennies!

40" is too small. :flipoff2:

I have a 46in Sony XBR. I shopped long and hard before getting this one, and couldn't be happier with the picture quality... I just wish I had sacked up and paid for the 52in.

It's really a personal decision, though. There isn't much margin on televisions, and it's extremely competitive, so you get what you pay for. They all have defects and quirks, the question is really how much that matters to you, and how much of a teevee is "good enough".

You might be better off to set a price point, then start researching and reading reviews of the sets that fall under that range.

Ive seen good things about Vizio and Westinghouse, but am still a bit leary. Im currently staring at a 20" CRT Sony from 10-14ft away, so all will be an improvement. We aren't "TV people", but while we're cooped up in this rental house in Charlotte, I have nothing to do, so I gravitate towards the TV and the fireplace in the evenings. Since I can't build a bigger fire, I figure I better get a bigger TV.

We've got a 32" Sharp in the apartment here...LCD.

Very nice tv for the price. Think we got it for 600 and some change at walmart.

FWIW, I couldn't be happier with my 42" Panasonic plasma. It's a few years old and I still have a difficult time finding a better picutre on just about any newer TV short of the Pioneers.

I've had a 50" Vizio plasma for around 2 years now and couldn't be happier. So another thumbs up for Vizio from me.

There are some monster deals out next week on flat panels- CC, Best Buy, and Wal Mart all have 50"s and 42"s for sub $800. Some even sub $600.

Where are you finding these deals?

Either Best Buy or Circuit City has a 42" off brand for $599.

watch what store you are in....
One of the oldest tricks, when a given manufacturer has rebates or incentives or kickers, is to push that brand by de tuning the other TVs....Zobo locally is one of the worst about it.

Ask for a remote and load one of the factory picture settings, unless they have edited the defaults you will get a better comparison.

Vizio is a good tv FOR THE MONEY....they are not a sharp, sony, etc.

i dont think those black friday specials will be 1080. Call your local custom dealer, they should shoot you strait.
