my floor jack won't lift anything any more. is there any way I can add fluid and bleed out the air that might be in there or should I just buy a new one?

thanks

Yep, add hydraulic jack oil to it at the fill plug near the rear. It's a pain to bleed the air. Just work it some and add as you can.

If it's a good jack...

Try this, remove fill plug. Fill with hydraulic jack oil. Cover the plug opening with something to deflect any fluid should it shoot out. Leave plug off. close valve & pump jack all the way up, Keep pumping once it tops out. This should expel any trapped air. If it wont go up on it's own try pulling it up & down a few times. If you can't get it going it may need new seals. Google the manufacturer to see if replacement seals are available. If you do get it to function properly, don't forget to then replace the fill plug!

Mine did the same thing. I removed the plug added fluid. when full I would pull up on the lift end and add fluid as needed until it was all the way to the up position. Worked like new.
