Florida resort

The wife and I are looking for a resort in Florida for a vacation in February. Does anyone have any recommendations? It will just be the two of us and we would like somewhere on the beach. Thanks for any suggestions!

My parents use to have a place on Captiva Island near Ft Meyers. Very nice resort at the end of the island, golf , great fishing, fine dinning, etc. The best part was no lights near the beaches at night, just pitch black silence.

Sanibel and Captiva are a great palce. I used to live in Fort myers. You have Naples which is even a bit pricier. For Beaches, my favorite was Sarasota. Just spectacular water and views. Do you want Gulf or Ocean? East coast is a bit more crowded and busier. West coast is more laid back. Also look at Venice it is very quiet.

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando last year and had a phenomenal time even though it wasn't on the beach. Just a thought, although their rooms are not exactly economical. Room I stayed in was about 1,000 a night and Im not sure if they have cheaper than that or not.
