How do you guys think a flowmaster 40 series is going to sound on my 1998 TJ 4.0. Anyone have any opinions or have a flowmaster on their TJ?
Thanks,
Jake

I have one and it sounds pretty good...BUT if you are considering getting a hitch, make sure they leave ample room when they reweld the exhaust. I recently installed a hitch and the exhaust pipe will bang the hitch at lower RPMs makin for an annoying sound.

I've got one on my '99 TJ, 4.0L. It's okay, but sometimes it sounds a little too 'ricey' to me. Of course I'm old and grumpy, so I may just be picky.

I rode with a guy who ran a long glasspack from Summit Racing. Next time I have to replace my muffler, that will be what I go with.

I like it with my 360 but I'm sure it sounds a lot different with a 6.

it drones too much on a i6, just sounds like a wet fart

I agree, I personally dont like the way they sound. They make the motor sound wore out as hell. I've got a Gibson muffler and i've never heard anything sound as good as it does. real throaty, but not annoying.

i think mine sounds great. its nice and deep. most of the jeeps i know and hang around with just have flows welded in place of the stock muff. but to each his own

what do you guys think I should go with on my Jeep then. (flowmaster, gibson, glassback ect.) Id love to hear some opinions:beer:
thanks,
Jake

super 40 w/no cat. sounds like a tractor at low rpm's. I put mine on the day I bought it just like everyother thing I have owned.

I've only heard one 4.0 TJ with a flowmaster and I thought it sounded pretty good. Not ricey at all and not obnoxiously loud either. I have a glasspack on mine and don't like it...it's rice-tastic, but at least it clears my triangulated uppers. May replace mine eventually with one of the small magnaflows.
