Fluid Loss

I've seen plenty of rigs with automatic transmissions pour out fluid while upside down due to roll over. I assume that the fluid pours out from the dip stick and I think there is some kinda hold near the top of the trans. Is there any way to keep from spilling trans fluid? Maybe like a rolloverball like fuel cells have? Do the comp buggies pour fluid every time they roll over?

Lokar or other locking dipstick and either a catchcan on the vent or a vent loop like on a fuel cell.

Leaking trans dipstick caused this.

There is usually a vent line coming off the top of the trans, I would assume it wouldn't be to hard to but a check valve/roll-over valve in line with it. If you set your rig up for water crossings, you should have already done something to atleast lengthen the line, or tie it into a vent system with a filter or something on it.

And the locking dipsticks that use a o-ring and cam lock are a great improvement over the normal style.

I've seen on 2 occasions what a transmission fire can do to a truck, and once it's going, it's very hard to put out, you probably won't have enough fire extinguishers in your whole convoy of rigs to get it under control.
