Anyone on the board like to fly fish? I love it and do it as much as I can, ponds and stuff, but I really like going out west for big trout. Just trying to see if anyone else was into it.

I love it, but haven't been since moving down to NC.
:(
wife used to love it more than I did.
(as you can tell, I have 1 fairly cheap rod and 1 small box of flies, she has prolly 5k worth of stuff)
So is there anywhere "local" you know of?
Aka within an hour that's decent?

I like to "popper bug" the local lakes for bass and bream. Caught a nice 2 pounder last week at Lake Higgins here in Greensboro. This is a good time of year for poppin' and I'm looking forward to catching a few nice ones soon :)

my brother caught these on a fly rod in jan

thats what i like to do. ive got the cheap shakespear kit from wally world and a handful of flies ive "borrowed" from my dad. i love to catch the bream bedding along the bank of the river.

Going to hit the New this weekend. MiLaw has 15 acres of South-fork riverside property. Niiiiice.
New to fly fishing, but I catch lots of Browns up there on a spinner. So, Ive ebayd togehter a nice outfit, will see if it pans out.

hey tobers anytime you wanna go out fly fishin let me know a couple buddy's and i head out to boone and fish for the weekend alot i will let you know next time we go if interested.

yep, but haven't been in about a year or so. I've got a couple Fly rods. and usually hit Mitchell River out towards Stone Mountain state park. but by far my favorite is to head to North Georgia Mountains. GA has a great Trout Program an several Trophy Streams.

But for now, I walk out my back door and down to the 6 acre lake my house backs up to. Haven't tried fly out there yet, but I might have to give it a shot.

fly fishing

wow john I didn't know you fly fished...we should go sometime. to those of you who asked where I fish there are several ponds that are public (part of the north carolina wildlife system) around falls and jordan lake. I know one place near jordan that they put the highway across a finger of the lake therefore cutting off the finger so i guess now its considered a pond. there are some huge bass in there and you can wade all the way around. I also fish at the Durham county wildlife club in durham it is known for its shooting but there is also a 10 acre pond with a bunch of fish in it (it has a bunch of casting room so its good for beginners). I would love to go out to boone with you guys sometime this summer just tell me when you go. Does anyone here tie flies? I'm pretty good at making bass stuff and nymphs but when it gets down to those size 18 dry flies I have a hard time :)
