Whose changed one of these gaskets and please do share how you get new one to seal...2 tries now still leaks at the corners...I've straightened the cover itself (chinky flimsy stupid design) so its pretty straight
Whats the magic to this stupid thing

Use something better than a blue, Fel-Pro parts store gasket. They make a decent product, but some of their stuff just will not seal. A Cummins 6BT valve cover gasket, for example. They make them too thin.

They key with those is to glue them in place on the pushrod cover and set something on it to hold it down. Once it's kicked off, bolt it on the side of the motor. A thin coat of RTV couldn't hurt. Ultra Gray would be my preference.

Also, @UTfball68 is a big ol Ford guy, so maybe he'll chime in.

that's what I did, but the block side isn't sealing. I guess this morning I'm gonna RTV the block side and see how it goes...what a stupid chinky flimsy design on this

When I do lifter covers on the little iron dukes on post office trucks. It’s strictly a clean surface on both sides and a heavy bead of grey etc on the cover. Also apply a thin layer on the block. Let them both tack up them mate it.
With enough grey RTV anything is possible 🤣

Again...use something other than the crappiest gasket Fel-Pro makes.

If they could mostly seal them up with cork 30+ years ago, you should be able to accomplish it in 2023...with a decent gasket.

old fashioned cork gaskets are your friend here - in my experience.

Also tighten it down like a head -inside out finger tight - then inside out final torque

Agreed on cork…and hack way of doing things, but if single cork doesn’t work…something is definitely out of square, and even in that instance, I’ve never seen double cork gaskets not work (assuming it’s not a catastrophic failure).

thanks guys, I ended up tossing that felpro gasket and just running a nice bead of RTV and bam done. On jeeps I do this already but this is first time replacing one of those gaskets and I just "assumed" a normal gasket would work...
I see why you guys say the cork one would be better in this application since that cover is so thin and flimsy. But it's on and leak free finally.
Now I just gotta figure out how to adjust the "high idle thing" on this new carb...My brain doesn't comprehend a lot of things and carburators is one of them...these things are so complex yet according to everyone else they're so simple LMBO, but then again to me a lot of things are complex HAHA

I commented on a bumper before and now this blue. If its one dang thing you do that would be hard for anyone to argue over is lay down some paint. I don't care if its rattle can or squirt gravity vodo, that stuff looks like that shinny black bumper I was gawking at one time,

Smooth like it was from a booth.

thank you

I'm was waiting for that person to comment on the 220 extension cord dangling from the ceiling and how it's spliced together LMAO

@Jody Treadway
Shouldn’t a 300 use a Belleville washer like a 4.0 on the EM?
