So This blue ford with 300 has new AOD in it, it's up and running and running/shifting pretty good for the most part.
We bought a Lokar TV cable for the AOD, it's adjusted per their instructions (35psi at idle, in N) and it's "mostly" shifting well but late shifts in my opinion.
1st gear shifts at 38 ish unless you're really granny driving on flat ground then it'll go through the gears quicker
1st: It doesn't go into overdrive until 55ish, even then you kinda gotta let your foot off throttle slightly unless you hit 60 then it'll go in OD on it's own.
2nd: If you start it, and start driving within a minute (cold engine/trans) the shift points are even more "sluggish" I guess you could say, once warm it's nice and smooth but still late shifts in my opinion.
I've been reading up on Ford forums and most say they adjust the shiftpoints to be in OD by 50mph...
SO my question is, do you "slack up" the cable to back off shift points or tighten it up. I don't want to mess this thing up and I'm very well aware of the meticulousness of the adjustment. Lokar cable allows for fine tuning instead of having to do the whole pressure gauge thing every time. Thanks for any help/guidance

Adjust it by line pressure not seat o’ pant o meter.

AOD will run forever if set up right or break day 1 if wrong.

OD and mph are dependent on throttle position. It shouldn’t shift to od while your in the throttle regardless of speed.

I did but how do you fine tune it...like which direction does what? Tighter does..... looser cable does....
Lokar didn't say anything except to set it at 35psi in N that's it.

Oh wow I was not aware of this, good to know.

On most thing TV cables, tighter makes it shift sooner.

before I mess with it, does it sound like the shift points are too high to you? Under normal driving throttle, should 1st gear rev up to 38ish mph? that seems too high but Idk, maybe not

I'm not sure.
