I found a kit that replaces all the thrust washers with bearings and a new gearset that reduces first gear from 2.46:1 to 2.72 to one it also reduces second gear my question is is it worth it to go into this thing and change that stuff out will I notice a big difference I've heard c6s are very parasitic because of the rotating mass just curious if this is worth the effort to do I would be installing so installation cost isnt a thing I'm running a 90s 351w with the factory efi a c6 with a 205 and tons with 4.88 gears in a yj gonna probably end up on 40+ in. tires any input would be appreciated thanks

FORD C6 WIDE RATIO GEARSET

Looks like the 'stage 1/intro kit' for rollerizing a C6...which, in my opinion is the ONLY way to rebuild a C6. It does a pretty good job at reducing that parasitic loss and improving your effective ratio. Might be worth perusing their other 'rollerizing' offerings:

Ford C6 Competition Components

I've actually used this exact kit in the past:

FORD C6 ROLLERIZED PLANETARY | FORD C6 HEAVY DUTY PLANETARY | FORD C6 SIX PINION PLANETARY

Pardon my lack of knowledge of automatics and C6... but other than valve body are their other things needed for a rebuild, outside of what is in that kit?

Thinking i will likely swap an auto in my bronco eventually, and while i would love an OD trans, the C6 is the most likely; so i want to spend the money right the first time.

yeah I have a e40d in it now but tricking the ecu for the speed sensor input was problematic and the length was too long I had almost no rear driveline as well as the 205 front output being so close to the trans pan I could only run a 1310 joint

Depends on how involved your rebuild is. I'm far from a trans guy (make your jokes)...I'm merely a parts assembler, but if you're doing a full rebuild there are more parts involved. Think of it like an engine build, the parts in the link I posted would be like the parts necessary for a stroker assembly...but you'll still need cam and head(s) and and and. Looks like this is their master rebuild kit, there's some redundancy in the Master kit and the 'upgrade kit' I originally posted.

I dont know much about Ford autos, but part of me wonders if adapting a GM OD trans might be the best approach.

I've often wondered about mating an LS to a Ford trans but never the other way around
