Ford IAC(?) Question

My 91 F250 has this random high idle thing going on. It doesn't seem to matter if it is cold or warm; it sometimes idles at around 1500 RPM. Today, while it was doing it, I unplugged the IAC and it went to what sounded like a normal idle RPM. Plugged it back in and went to high idle. Plugged and unplugged a couple times and it decided to be normal. Earlier in the day when it was at a normal idle RPM, I unplugged it and the truck stumbled and almost died. What does that sound like? IAC or something else? TPS?
Thanks ahead of time!

Sounds like the IAC solenoid is sticking.

Probably would hurt to replace the IAC and shoot some carb cleaner in the bore to clean everything out real nice. I hate when idle hangs too high!

It’s funny this comes up (and not to thread Rob) but my ‘89 Toyota p/u (22RE) started doing the same thing about a month ago. Figured it out to be a little solenoid/ dashpot right under the throttle control at the front of the TB. I don’t know what it does but if I push it down it idles down then sits there till I rev it up and the little thingy pokes back out and keeps the idle from dropping. Wondering if I can just remove it? It’s not like it gets cold here (or my A/C works) to worry about spinning the hamsters up to high idle.
