My truck has the Ford Sync 3 “infotainment” whatever you want to call it. The touchscreen and steering wheel controls aren’t working correctly when they do work. It doesn’t stay connected to my phone via Bluetooth or cable.
I’m reading online it’s the API Module behind the touchscreen that has gone bad.
It looks easy enough to replace, but where to get one?
the prices range greatly. I’m worried about getting a cheap one off of eBay because it may just be one that was taken out of a wreck and will fail soon too. Ones that are medium priced all obviously get shipped from Wuhan lab in China and no warranty.
ive found what appears to be a reputable website, they have instructional videos on how to replace them, is the most expensive, but also offers a 1 year warranty.

Unless you guys tell me you’ve successfully used the cheap China version, I’ll go with the expensive option.

I’d rig up some cheap stereo, but this system controls the climate and the massaging seats! I’m spoiled now, I need that shit.

Had similar issues with 2011 Explorer. Turned out to be the FCIM (front control interface module). Dealership wanted $700+ to replace. I bought one from salvage yard in Utah through Ebay. $80 for the part and less than 10 minutes later it was fixed! I vote for either factory junkyard part (it will fail again but how long??) or the more expensive one. Good luck
