I found a 2000 4 door xj but the kid still owes the bank 2,000 and they have the title . Is there anyway I can talk to his bank or dmv before I buy. Bank has title

When you buy it go to the bank with him and when he pays them off they will hand you the title

Banks in FL he did it buy carmax. He said they bank would overnite the title and I could run his tags untill he gets it Friday.

That is pretty standard practice. You can run his tags until you get the title. Make sure that you write out a bill of sale and you should put your own insurance on it when you start driving it.

The above have given good advice. I've been on the selling side of a transaction like this and it went smoothly. We drew up a bill of sale and had it notarized when money exchanged hands. When I paid off the loan I asked the bank to send the title directly to the buyer instead of to me. That way the buyer felt more comfortable. When he received the title he gave me a call and then we met at the tag office and transferred the title to him. He ran my tags until we transferred the title.

Piece of cake.

yep.
Just be sure to keepp that Bill of Sale in the glovebox until you get the title, just in case you have the fortune of dealing with an LEO, that will help explain why the tag regsitration and your license don't match.
