If I run a true triangulated 4 link in the front I can do away with the track bar on my XJ, correct?

If so where is a good 4 link calc to use to get everything figured out?

Yes. However, a lot of people with mechanical steering run a 3 link because a double tri 4 link has symmetrical travel, whereas a 3 link + panhard will follow the arc of the panhard when it droops, and that's why you need to match your draglink to your panhard, so they will follow the same arc. The arc of the draglink versus symmetrical travel is SUPPOSED to bind, however the "Cheston Scout" in this last years TTC ran a double tri 4 link with mechanical steering.

Another big problem would be bump steer. When the front axle moves straight up and down the draglink is going to move in an arc. This will cause the axle to steer as it cycles up and down.

I run a triangulated 4-link with a steering box, and I think it does fine no binding. It has no more bump steer than when it had leafs, and its not that big of a deal. Just my 2 cents.

i agree with the above, I don't personally run one but how fast you plan on trail riding-bump steer seems mute unless your pre-runnin or highway driven'
if bump steer is such an issue on trail the steering angles have got to be way steep to cause a noticable jerk on the wheel

It will be a dedicated trail rig that I may drive on the street from time to time. Steering angles will not be much of an issue as with a D44 front I'm going to run a OTK setup and I'm only going to have 4.5" of lift. At a minimum I'll run hydro assist but I haven't made the decision if I'm going to just go full hydro or not yet but I most likley will.

any responce's on the 4-link clac. though? I've searched before to no avail, I thought it was out there in the web somewhere free for downloading but I haven't located it either.
