on my cherokee my front shocks are hitting the the body when the suspension is flexing and also bending the shock pistons, ive searched to see if anyone else has had this problem but havent came up with much. It looks to me if i relocated the lower shock mount out a inch or two it would solve both problems. Has any one else ran into this problem? or have any ideas on what the best way and place to relocte it is?

the jeep is a 96 Xj with around 6.5in lift , long arm radius arms, and still d30 so it has factory shock mounts. Any input would appricated

Is your panhar bar mounted in the stock locations upper and lower? Usually that happens with a short panhard bar.

interesting..... long arms?
yeah rustys longarms, and from what i can tell the axle is pretty centered. It looks like it would be pretty easy to move the bottom mount of the shock out just a little bit. I just think it is odd that no one else has had this problem

Yea me too. I've built a few jeeps with 14" travel shocks in the front and even through the full range of travel I've never seen that happen. If it were one side I'd understand and assume the axle wasn't centered.

Sent from the MarsFab Off Road mobile response unit.

yeah i will have to get out and do some more investgating tomoarrow, ill let ya'll know if i figure out anything. thanks for the input though!

dunno what to tell you on the shocks but that grade 5 bolt mounted single shear on your trackbar is going to get somebody hurt.
yeah i know, i just bought the jeep it is deffentaly not seeing anything but the garage like that. and it is olny hitting when flexed down. sence no one else has ran into this i suspect something in the track bar or mount but i will get into it more tomoarrow

The only thing i can add is that looks like a large body shock and most lift shocks that are application specific for the jeep are a slim bore.. however i have ran the large bore and i haven't had any problems.

The only other thing is that shock is much longer than what a lift company would send with that lift. Normally when the shock drops out only the shaft would be level with the frame not the body.

thanks for the input ya'll i got it figured out, it was the upper mount on the track bar causing the axle to move just enough for the shocks to hit. When i was looking at it myself i couldent see it but i got someone to come over and drive it so i could see what was goin on.
