I'm planning to flat bed my Comanche and want to install a 10 to 12 gallon fuel cell in the bed. I want to install braided hose from the fuel rail to the fuel cell and install inline filter and a fuel pump.

What fuel pump should I use and what kind of connection can I use to connect the new fuel line to the rail?

My comanche has a 94 4.0l from a cherokee.

I'd use a Motobilt TJ cell and a TJ pump. The push to connect fitting I would guess as being wither of these two numbers but not sure (RUS-640863 or RUS-640853)

E2000 external fuel pump. Seems like the consensus on ol’pirate4x4.

Why not just use an XJ tank on the flat bed?

Actually I have the xj tank on there now sitting on the frame but its large I was wanting something smaller.

You need a cell with a 6AN feed and return. I would use an E2000 (industry standard part number) pump or a Walbro GSL392. With either one, the OEM regulator will dial down the pressure.
Go with a AN style inline prefilter as well.
For fittings and hose, go with ethanol approoved braided hose and fittings FROM THE SAME COMPANY. Russell, Fragola and others sell quick connects that attach to the OEM fuel rail that have a AN threads on one end.
Here's a pic of the fuel rail fitting. You'll need a 3/8 and a 5/16.

I agree with Jody 100%

I'd suggest a fuel rail adapter with a metal locking ring instead of the plastic clip on deal. Easier to install remove (no need for the special tool) and it's also safer IMHO (heard about a few people having issues with the plastic retaining rings not holding up in the long run).

I've not really had much issues with the chryco quick connect - no tools required to remove, just pinch the tabs. Later models used the ones with metal retaining ring that requires the disconnect tool. Ymmv

Thanks for all the info everyone, this is exactly what I was looking for.

I'm also not in love with braided fuel line. I recently swapped to pushloc hose for ease of use. I also use -6 pushloc for the fuel, trans, and steering return line. 6ft of spare line in the tool box and it will work for any of them.

I couldn’t find any aftermarket push connect fittings that would actually stay on my yj fuel rail. Went thru several brands and no luck.

Ended up shoving the stainless braided rubber hoses over the nipples on the rail and regular hose clamps. Been that way for almost 10 years.

Stock 4.0 in tank pump and motobuilt ring. I’ll never do an in-line pimp again.

I pushed eco fuel hose into my rail and put two good hose clamps on it. Never had an issue with it
