Ive got a 4.3 v6 in my toyota truck and dont have a fuel gauge. Was going to buy an aftermarket fuel gauge but have searched and read that no aftermarket fuel gauge will work bc of the unique toyota fuel sender. Is this true? Should i just replace the sender in the tank to a 0-90 ohm? Ive even thought of just going ahead and getting a fuel cell and mounting it in the bed but am trying to get this done on a budget.

Any help would be great.

thanks

RCI makes several cells with 0-90 ohm gm senders. You're looking at around $200. Prob wouldn't be much more than trying to find a sender and making it work.

I've never worked on a yota, but I have a 4.3 Vortec in the YJ. It was no problem to change the fuel gauge sender to one from Autometer to match the Autometer fuel gauge. I don't think it was that much. I also created a trap door in the floor board above the fuel tank for convenience. I can't tell you how many times that trap door has been worth it's weight in gold!
