A friend of mine has redone his hybrid. A 20 gal polly tank from a Jeep was used. (80's CJ)
His truck is a mid 80's S-10 on a full size Blazer frame.
Problem: The fuel gauge always reads way past full, even when empty.
Question: What is best fix for this?
Thanks in advance

I assume you used the gauge from the s10 with the sender from the cj? Heeps use 78-10ohm senders while gm's use 0-90 ohm senders. They aren't compatible, and his chevy gauge is more than likely already ruined. Your best bet is to find a 78-10ohm gauge to replace it or just keep the tank full, you can find them in summit/jcwhitney/autozone/wherever.

Should I be on the lookout for an s10 on 40" hawgs, 5" bodylift and empy gas tank driving around town now? :flipoff2:

chip - i have a universal jeep guage (78-10ohm) from JC-whip-me. I'll send ya for cost of shipping... I'm not building my own, so don't need this one.. -mike

If a gage is sinking in the FULL direction knowing it isn't full, then your polarity is likely reversed. I'd check and make sure my gage wires are wired right before buying a new gage. Swap out the positive and negative on the gage and see if that don't fix it. I just had the same thing happen to me.
The sender should only have a positive going to the gage and a negative grounding to the frame. So that's a no brainer. But some gages don't have markings making it a guessing game.
There should be a ground (-), a positive(+) and a wire going to the sender(S). Swap the - and +.

Hope that works.
