fuel tank pressure

Why does my fuel tank on 94 yj build up pressure? When I stop to get gas it hisses when I take off the cap. When wheeling, it blows fuel out the back. I've tried new cap, that ain't the problem.

should be a vented cap

If you still have your EVAP charcoal canister hooked up, it should take care of the pressure.

So the charcoal canaster could be plugged up? what do I do clean/replace?

I would just look at the hoses that go to the system and see if anyone has capped off or unplugged any of them. Is it a 4.2 carb engine?

the 94 YJ is injected. look through the left rear fender well. there should be three lines going to the front of the jeep. one is the pressure line, one is return, and the smallest line is the vent. remove the line and blow through it to make sure it is not pluged or crimped off.

cause you probably keep pumping at the fuel pump until your tank overflows. screws with the evap system.
