i did a solid axle swap done to my liberty as some of you know but i want to eliminate 3 things that i have now...1 is the spacers, 2 is the greater possibility that my axles can brake as they stand now, and three i want to be just as wide as i am but wouldn't mind alittle wider...
right now i have hp30 up front and corp 8.25 in the rear w/ 2 inch wheel spacers and 3.5bs rims...i will be going w/ only a 35" tire but would it be silly to put fulwidths on it?? also what full width axles can i go with that i wouldn't keep draging the diff everywhere i go?? i can get my hands on a nice rear d 60 for cheap so 8 lug is more probable and wantable...i know that a late model ford has a 44 but how wide is it and what should be my normal cost on one?? thanx everyone...

I would go with a 44/9" combo from a 76 or so ford. The 9" is just as strong if not stronger than the 60 with a lot less weight. Heres some pics of that combo in an XJ that I am building...

is the pumkin bigger on the 60?? that's look good...what size tires are they...and what is your 9 from? are they both from a 79 ford??

Yes they are from the same truck (76 with welded on wedges) and the 60 is bigger therefor less ground clearance. Those are 35x12.50s. One more thing is that if you go 3/4 ton you will prolly have to upgrade your master cylinder due to more fluid it takes for the bigger brakes.

P.S. The factory shafts in a rear 60 are smaller than the ones in my Toyota.:D

well the 60 already haves the 35 spline axle shafts...thanx for your help

you can also get a set of Wagoneer axles from a lat 80's early 90 full size Wagoneer they ad driver drop Dana 44's and there are plaety of after market upgrades. they are not as wide as a fullsize truck

lbyota85 That Cherokee Sport looks nice man. Were you able to convert that rear 9" to disc brakes, and if so what did you use for this?
