I know we have some furniture guys here.

Why is it that couches/loveseats etc often have thin fabric covering the bottoms? What is it there for?

We have this loveseat that is notorious for "eating" cellphones, pocketnives, etc... they like to fall between the cushions, which do not come out, they built into the frame.
what makes it !@#$ing irritating is that they don't fall all the way through and hit the floor, but instead you can see where they are sitting on top of that sheet underneath.
We had to cut a slit in it just so we could occasionally reach in from underneath to fetch stuff.

Did anyone else catch this typo?:flipoff2:
:lol:made ya look! ....and scroll down a long way! Happy holidays!

I did not have to scroll very far.. what ya talking about?

:flipoff2:

that stuff is called "black bottom"(sometimes it's grey). it is put on the bottom of the furniture so you can't see the springs & frame from the bottom of the furniture. it is cosmedic. so people don't freak out when they are shoping for furniture. the couches and love seats are stored on end until they are sold or shipped. it also keeps cats from taking up residence and spraying inside your couch.

black bottom, dust cover, proper term is a non-woven or spun bond material. Pull the cdbd strip on the sides, remove the staples and pull back to retrieve. But whatever falls should not get past the denim decking unless you have some real crappy furniture. :flipoff2: If you mess it up let me know the size you need and I will get some cut for ya.
