Future employment ideas?

I'm lucky enough to have a job currently, but realize that working in a machine shop is not what I would like to retire doing.

Currently I setup, program, and run CNC machines. I do a lot of reverse engineering type of repair work also. I have experience with engineering and machining software.I have a journeyman's card and an assoc.deg. in manufacturing engineering. I was working towards a B.S. in Elementary Ed. but had to stop due to finances. I lost my drive to teach too as my fiancee teaches and I see all the crap she's going through. I only had a year to finish, but didn't think I could make it through student teaching.

I'm pretty handy and really enjoy helping others. I don't mind working on cars, but am not certified in that area. I've worked on a few Habitat projects local and in New Orleans and LOVED it! I don't mind hard work as the past 13 years I've averaged about 55-60 hrs. weekly.

I'm just praying that God will give me guidance for my long term future for employment that I can either work to improve others situations or one that would give me the free time to do so. I'm getting married in May and with her teaching position we know now is not the time to move with a hiring freezes for teachers.

I know there are a lot of people in several occupations on here or know of some and would like some input.

Thanks!

What would it take for you to teach machine shop classes at a tech school or community college? Then have your weekends free to wheel or do volunteer work...maybe best of both worlds unless you wanting to go a completly different direction...just my .02...worth a shot with the experience you have...??

Yes, that's along the lines of what I'm interested in. I've looked a little bit, but haven't found much.
