Has anybody ever had attitude problems with Galloway"s 4wd center in New London. A friend of mine got banned because he didnt want to leave a tip! Anybody else had a problem like this?
:wtf:

welcome to the wonderful world of galloways customer service

there are countless tales of that place being a complete shit hole when it comes to reliable customer service

do a search and you will find plenty of others that have had issues there

My dad is actually friend's with one of the oweners, they're a nice bunch of guys and do decent/good work from what I've seen, but you're right....when it comes to their attitudes and customer service, they drive away what would be repeat customers

my one and only time at galloways he was a total dick and I didnt buy anything. I wont ever go back there. I called for a price on tires, he gave me a price, I drove all the way down there and his old ass forget the price and invented one way higher than he originally quoted me. I called him out on it, needless to say I almost drug him out in the parking lot and threw down. That place is a dump.

there work looks/performs like shit and is always at least $3-800 higher than other places.only thing i go there for is tires but most of the times its a headache................:shaking:

:shaking: hate to see another victim of lester the molester. every time ive tried to trade with him, he acted like my stuff was shit and there's was gold. and darrell is just a dickhead about everything

I dealt with them and traded some about 10-15 years ago. They peeved me off back then and I haven't been back. But for some reason, they liked me, gave me a great deals several times on take-off parts out back, new tires, etc. But I always went in person with cash -- he named a low price... cash was out immediately. No second chances.

I know there is no excuse for poor customer service, but the amount of customers they have on a given day is usually rather large.
Another fact in their defense would probably be this.......................How many other places will even consider trading on their products? Lester once told me that they get 20 phone calls a day , that are just folks wanting to trade old parts for stuff. Thats fine with lester, but he wont give high dollar prices for your stuff. And expects, not to lose money on his stuff. So with that said, flame on!!! Cash talks , trades are considered and often accepted, they are extremely busy, and everyone has bad days. As for their work... I know nothing about that, I only deal in tires with them. And yes, I sometimes trade in parts, but i dont expect to trade even....they are a for-profit business.
And again,.....thats no excuse for bad customer service.

I have learned: Take lots of junk, but toss in a few things that are of SOME worth. The more stuff Lester sees the better, I have always come from there feeling like I got a good deal. Can't be in a rush when you go though, because it takes forever even to just pick up some tires.

I wouldn't let them touch a thing on my truck though, other than balancing tires I am not impressed with anything I have seen from there.

Watch them as well, I bought 36" Iroks and they were supposed to be pad balanced, only one tire out of 4 had a pad in it, but ALL of them had lead weights on the wheel.

This has been my experinace as well. I have purchased 4 or 5 sets of tires from him that were 85-100% tread for close to half the price of a new set. He has also given me some crazy high prices on other stuff. It all depends on what kinda mood they're in. Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad.

But, I have never heard of them asking for a tip.(next time just tell them "don't eat yellow snow")

Ive done business with lester many times.
Never had a bad experience, and ditto on what tacoma says...bring lots of crap and one nugget...and talk a little and listen a lot

I've never had any work done at galloways, but I have bought a lot of jeep suspension parts from them. They are 15min from my house, and they almost always had what I needed in stock when other local stores in charlotte (that are national chains) had to order EVERYTHING I asked for. I will say that I never got a lot of personality from the parts desk, but I wasnt there to hear good joke or get a hug, just wanted to buy parts right then and they had them on the shelf, and at a decent price. That is a little crazy to get banned for not leaving a tip. As a shop you should name a price, and perform the work.

We had a similar experience. When I was buying my Swampers, I called for availability and exact price, because I was sending my wife up to get the tires. She showed up, they loaded up the tires, then the price they gave my wife was way off from the quote he gave me. The ladies in the office all but accused my wife of attempting to rip them off. After a while, Lester came in mumbled that he might have quoted the wrong tires, then dissappeared out the back.

I ended up calling Discount tire at Concord Mills. They matched the price Lester quoted us. We told Galloways to shove it and I've never been back.

I could have dealt with the mistake, had they not treated my wife like we were trying to rip them off. It wasn't until Lester admitted his mistake that they even considered changing their tune.

Edit: By the way, my wife had cash, so apparently not all money talks the same way at Galloways.

I know this is off subject but if yaw are lookin for tires try Tirepackage.com. They are around $100-$150 cheaper than toms, galloways, Kelleys, anyone. SKIP THE MIDDLE MAN.

I have spent many a dollar at galloways and they still try to screw me everytime. The ONLY reason i go down there is for the used tires. I have had them quote me a tire price many times, i go down there and the price is different. I even went as far as taping the conversation one time and let Lester hear it. He wasnt to happy but he gave me the original price.

Like everyone else said money talks at galloways.

Oh and DONT buy gears at galloways call andy at the Rock shop. Andy's price was $50 cheaper on the same brand gear set and included shipping to my door. Lynn at galloways told me i wouldnt find a better price, guess he lied.

The last few times I've gone there I had to deal with Lynn. And I will never buy parts from him again. Here's my story.

I Bought a 1350/1310combo ujoint. Brought it back to get two 1350 joints(decide to change yokes). He gave me two ujoints. i didn't look to see if they were correct(my bad). I then go on a road trip for work for a week. On my way home I stop by and try to exchange the two 1310 ujoints for 1350's. Well after standing around for 15 min. waiting on him to show up from picking up lunch. He walks in and ignores me.(he knew I was there because they called him). One of the other guys that was trying to help me had to get him to help me.

Well then Lynn gets an attitude because he doesn't have any 1350's. I asked him, Why are you getting an attitude with me? He says that I'm calling him a liar. That I asked for 1310's. I wasn't but it didn't matter because all I was asking was to exchange the 1310's for 1350's.

So I ask for my money back since he didn't have what I needed. He then gives me $27.00 The original combo joint that I bought cost me $34.00 but I didn't have a receipt to prove it. So I asked why only $27.00? He says that is how much the two 1310 joint cost. And since I don't have a receipt to prove how much the combo joint cost he was not going to give me that much back.

He never once looked up a price. He did everything in his head. So I know he knew how much that combo joint cost. But I just took the $27.00 and walked out the door. And I don't plan on going back through that door again.

I know blah blah blah blah.

Never had a bad experience. You do have too plan on along day there..

I went there once and i want be back.
Called down looking for a brake booster for a CJ. Guy on the phone said come on down we have a couple. Well i went down there. When i got there they told me that i had to wait for the parts guy to show up before i could go into the yard and get one. Well they called him and two hours latter he showed up. He told me that he had been trying to find a deer that his son had shot that morning.:flipoff2: Finaly we went to look for one. Well they didnt have one on a CJ. They guy went into some building and came out with one. He tried to tell me that it was for a CJ. I told him that it was for a YJ. And then he stood there and argued with me. I just left and want be back.

Galloways famous words, "We have one of those". It doesnt matter if its a turn signal fluid resevour, i gaurantee they have one if you call them on the phone.
