gas tank fix

in it, or on it?

I've used a product that is a 2 part epoxy that comes in a kit with aplicator brush, and small piece of fiberglass cloth. Cost's like $10-12, and is a permanent repair. I used it to seal several small pinholes in a gas tank on a '66 buick. I've seen it at most of the major parts stores

Is this the Steal or plastic tank?

If yours it is plastic them you are SOL the steal you can use JB weld gas tank/ radiator repair it works great. It is a putty that you mix up.

if you need a tank Check with Tanker on www.cfsjc.org I think he has a FSJ wrecking yard.

I had to replace mine plastic one because it was split on top. This happen because I think the straps tighten too tight and crush the plastic. I had to use some washer to relive the stress when I put the new tank in. Oh and you can not buy a new tank :(

There is good news if your tank is metal you can replace it with a Plastic tank it will fit. you will have to use a filler neck from the newer truck. The sending units in the plastic tanks are crap but www.bjsoffroad.com it getting them made so you can replace it.

It's a steel tank. It has had several holes come n it over the years. This time, my son and I are gonna take it off, clean it, JB weld what holes we find, and then fiber glass all of the bottom. I have heard of the stuff you can pour inside of it, never used it, or know of anyone who has. I did find some a few mins ago at a Bike shop, $35 bucks.
My son has the truck now and he wants to fix it for good. Any problems with my plan of attack?

Check with your local radiator shop. Some of them also do gas tank repair. They can boil it out just like a radiator, then you can can actually weld the holes up instead of JB weld.
