what ons second

i will have to check to make sure but there is more than one way to get a good pattern. i will get back later today

it's hard to tell looking at a picture, but if i am looking correctly, it looks like you may have a little too much backlash. make sure you put a load on the carrier while turning it to check the pattern. again it's hard to tell from the picture.

They look like hell. While you're in there putting it all back together, add a locker!! :flipoff2:

Actually, these pics are from an ad on craigslist for gear set up. I was thinking that they didn't look all that great and that it might deter business rather than garner it.

either way

i am pretty sure from what i can tell in the picture the pinion is to far away:beer:

Actually, if I brought the pinion in any closer it would have been too far into the flank of the gear. (well too close for my taste)

the picture is off kiltered and small so hard to tell but it may be alright, it does not need to be centered

Most people think it has to be in the center. I worry less about heel to tow, and more about face to flank. (always more about flank) :)

Glad I found another board full of gear heads.

Its not bad, and without knowing what axle it is, new or used gears or what tools or method(s) were used, it all depends. Plus pictures really suck for showing paint markings.

I agree with the pictures.. Like Cperry said, the picture is off kiltered which isn't helping.
It's kinda hard to get a good picture of a pattern. I was just trying to get he general point across.
Anyway, it was a 8.8 with Yukon gears. He decided to stick with the LSD.
The before picture:

Maybe this picture will do some justice:

Here's a couple of more:

Pictures may not be the best.....

Pattern looks like shit. Needs more backlash and the pinion moved farther away from the ring gear. You need to take out about .27 shims on the pinion and add about .30 to side of the carrier that moves the ring gear away from the pinion gear while rmoving .35 form the other side :fuck-you:

Just kidding the pattern is not perfect but it aint that bad either. Kind of hard to tell from the pictures.
