Nothing productive to add, just that I hate tow companies.

I am trying to figure out how power lines and a "hazmat condition" go together in the same sentence. Do these people have any idea what they are talking about? Morons.

What I'm still not getting is why it took 12 hours to get the damn thing out. Looks like they(towing company) put the Jeep through hell getting it out, almost looks as if the uni-body is folding in on itself o_O

There could be just a bit of spin involved.

'Ramer doesn’t know if he will be able to afford to get his vehicle back.'

Really- a $48k Cherokee. I hope they weren't quoting him. If they were, I'd say the tow company read the situation correctly.

Im sure they are charging a daily storage fee also,Id tell em to enjoy their new Cherokee.

What's really happening is the tow company is trying to rape the insurance company, who wouldn't pay and then passed it along to the client.

They're billing the insurance company, so they're going to add on as many extra charges as they can think of.

It's Boston, it's probably a rusty bucket

So... can the owner actually be held liable for those charges or could he just tell them to keep the jeep and walk away? I'm not familiar with how that works.

Probably depends on whether they have proof that he knowingly agreed to them.
But I really doubt it.

I think it's funny that they even thought the insurance would pay.

Well, obviously the best option would have been to remove the license plate and vin tags, set it on fire, and report it stolen...

Just kidding mods, please don't ban me ;).

Around here tow yards get stuck w cars all the time but that is Boston so there's probably some kind of clause that doesn't let that happen.I'm not sure how they think the ins comp will pay anywhere near that when usually they won't pay more than $75/$100 on a tow.

There is an officer in town here whose son got his xj stuck in the river park area(rock hills gentrification project). He was fined heavily and charged heavily for the recovery. IIRC the kids total bill for the day was around $5k. It was stuck worse than that xj. Joe's towing brought a back hoe and had him out in a few hours. The city would not allow us to recover the vehicle.

Saw this too. Apparently the owner of the towing company's daughter has wheeled the same spot.
