Gladiator rear axle locker

My son's gladiator rear axle is making some clunking noises. Mostly when accelerating from a stop and turning. Haven't opened it up yet.

This is going be a case of the may as wells and if I'm rebuilding it I'd like to put a locker in it. Was hoping for a lockrite sort of locker but can't find one.

Isn't this just a Dana 44? What's it go some sort of new fanglery nonsense in there?

What's the recommendation form the forum?

And before you say something silly like lockers aren't meant for the street - this is my son's new to him daily, and before this rig he was daily driving the 85 CJ with locked 1 tons on 40's, so he'll be able to handle a locker on his squishy street jeep

I put Detroit trutracs in our JK d44. I don't think you can put a lunch box lockers in these due to traction control issues. I think only limited slip and air or electric lockers will work properly.

It's not an OG D44. It will be an M220 rear axle. You'll need a selectable locker or something like a TrueTrac to get the ABS/ESP/Traction control happy.
I'd call ECGS and see what they offer.
