The issue stems from internal engine parts (crankshaft and connecting rods) that were damaged during the manufacturing process. As a result, all the vehicles involved in the recall will need to be inspected. If they pass the inspection, the dealer will replace the oil filter, oil cap, and add higher-viscosity 0W-40 oil, according to GM's internal service bulletin for the recall. Engines that don't pass inspection will be repaired or replaced.

This is going to be rough for GM. I was picking up my truck from getting serviced last week and the General Manager of the dealership was all to hell over this recall being released.

Yea. they did a stop all sales. Gonna look real bad. And imagine all the used units the dealers own and can’t sell

yeah, he’s got 4 used units that he can’t do anything with and 6 customers vehicles that are sitting with bad engines already. He was telling me that when someone comes in to have theirs serviced and they scan it in the computer it has to be quarantined and a rental issued to the customer per GM. This is gonna put a hurting on ole Government Motors.

Saw a post on da facebooks last night from one of the local lawyers wanting owners of these vehicles to contact her. She's a snake and Im sure she's looking for a payday.

Atleast they are proactive with the rentals

99.63% of lawyers are snakes/sharks and looking for a payday.

They need to get this and the 6.6 issues taken care of. My son's 2500 work truck uses a lot of oil and it has to be catastrophic for them to repair or replace.

iron block 5.3 and 6.0 with 4 speed autos are sure looking 'green' now!

but didn't they design the new engines to run the super thin oil to get that extra 0.1 mpgs?! So now they are just gonna put thicker oil in it, which will 'hurt' mpgs

why not just deisgn for longevitiy vs. an extra tenth mpg?

its like we do things just to fail just to keep us busy?

One of my close friends owns an engine machine shop and was explaining to me a couple months ago what a POS these engines are. I’ve been out of the loop and didn’t know anything about it.
