a car came into the shop today, it was a late 90's caprice classic. it had obviously been lifted to fit some "dubs" but the oem wheel and tires were on it. they complained of a grinding noise when braking. they said that they just had the front brakes done so that couldn't be the problem. so the front right tire was pulled to check the pads and we found something that made the whole shop laugh. the pads had been replaced alright...
but they had put the metal backing plate on the rotor side. it had ground the aligning dowels down and it was straight metal to rotor contact. good news though, the pads are still brand new! what an idiot.
