good lawyers in raleigh?

anybody got any recommendations?

the story:

last night, one of my buddies got in a fight at buckheads in raleigh. he doesnt remember much of it, just that he was dancing with some girl and he and a group of guys he didnt know were talking :poop: to each other. well, he doesnt exactly remember the next part but they ended up in a knock down drag out and he laid one of the guys out. he got arrested and the ticket says he gave the other dude a laceration under his eye, sounds like he busted his cheek. he was arrested and woke up in jail this morning. his bail was set at $1G and he was charged with misdemeanor assault. any suggestions?
 
pay the fine & go home
 
quite honestly, in this case....A lawyer aint gonna help.
He was drunk and dont remember, he can not testify, and sounds like he won, so by definition he is guilty of assault.

There are worse things to explain than I got drunk and beat up some dude...Trust me of my 2 convictions, that one is the easy one to explain, the other, well lets not go there....
 
hahaa. ok. the dude is pressing charges but my buddy is trying to get in contact with him to see if they can settle this out of court, meaning my buddy wants to give him hush money. it was absolutely hilarious this afternoon when i saw him in class and i ask him about his night b/c he looked rough. he was like, "dude, i woke up in jail this morning".

i think bribery is a felony.

simple assault isnt so bad. for the rest of his life he can use the phrase "better check my police record fool".

hasnt held me back from anything. just gotta wait 3 days to buy a rifle now.

I don't think that's bribery. It's just trying to settle out of court. People do that all the time.
Dosn't seem like the best approach to me, though.

a lawyer will more than likely cost a lot of money, but will probably get your buddy off on a technicality. If that is what he wants I would spend the money and find one. If not, pay the fine and get over it. Nights that you don't remember in the bar rarely end well.

you've got me. thats just what he said yesterday in class and i havent had a chance to talk to him yet today.

NC has what they call a Pistol permit and in most cases if you have one on your record in the past 5-7 years the county will not give you a pistol permit, and because the same groups do CC in NC they will not or may not give you a CC. I see it all the time at the gun shop.... That is why they get long guns and do a fed check the feds don't care about the small stuff for the most part.
