Good primative camping on coast side of state

Wondering if anyone knows of good camping areas on more the coast side of the state. I go to Uwharrie a fewtimes a year and we camp near the dam. looking for more camping areas like that. Can get truck somewhat near site, still away from other campers. But still more of the Primitive side. Im in Wilmington.

Never been, but has caught my attention. Going to have to check this out when funds permit a road trip. Please let me know if you go or already know of this area. I'm more interested in the 2 campgrounds on the Neuse River. This is all in Croatan National Forest.

The free ones sound best. Me & the hound like to fish. Been think'n bout bringing the boat down & checking out the river & sound.

You're near the beach huh? Ever heard of Masonboro Island? Its pretty primitive. Gotta get there by boat. We sailed there last time. It was great, just you, the ocean, sand...and I guess more sand. Pretty big dunes and campsites.

you can camp at freeman park northend, and south in carolina beach, they have potra potties, but you can have bonfires, etc. cops are cool too as long as you arent being a tool.
