What are the PROS and CONS of each. Which is better and would be more suitable to pulling a rig around all over the country and state and everywhere??? some people say this and that but i want another opinion. Thanks!!

5th wheel

Personally I think it depends on the Tow rig and how it is going to be used. I have a Diesel Excursion so that limits me. If I had a truck I would have a slide in Camper so I would still be limited. That is just me. I know a ton of people say 5th wheel based on strength. But as you said it's only a trail rig and trailer that aren't extremely heavy.

Remember, gooseneck and 5th wheel are different.
Gooseneck will allow more movement of the trailer, better suited to off-roaders that need to drive through fields, Trail 1, etc.
The newer 5th wheel hitches will have more movement then you will ever need. Don't think driving cross a field would be a problem ever. It should even work better because a lot of the 5th wheel hitches are sliders and not many goosenecks are.
Also if its to tow a rig, have not found many people building a flat trailer to tow rigs on that is a fiver. Most are campers or toy haulers.

He's asking for a "friend"
1 rig- bumper pull is fine
More than 1 rig-get a gooseneck
Because you said "Friend" that brings up a good point...
Bumper pull, if you need help anyone with a tow rig can help you, if your tow rig craps out or something, but with a 5th wheel and gooseneck its harder to find help.....
It may be no more then pulling you junk off the road or the rest of the way home but it still can be done, if you are the only one with a gooseneck your trailer will sit on the road.
Something to think about.......

You shouldn't be pulling anything bigger than a jetski.. in which case, a bumper pull is just fine. :flipoff2:

I use bumper pulls everyday. I like them for work because they free up the bed and they trail and backup better. But that being said, I use a gooseneck for long trips. It just rides so much nicer. I took one of my equipment trailers to Harlan a few weeks ago and hated pulling it.

If your gonna do bumper pull get airbags, makes the ride super niiiiiice, plus you dont have a sagging rear end when your towin . . .

But then, if you have half a clue and a proper towing setup, you'll have a RATED hitch, with load leveling torsion bars to properly distribute the load thru out the frame of BOTH the towing and towed vehicle, and not a 10" drop hitch and no brakes on the trailer.

Not that you would know anyone who would do that.......

OR the "tow rig" being a 1/2ton loaded with worthless 10/12bolt equivalents and running tires so large they strain every molecule in the truck empty, not to mention towing an 8000# rig on a 5000# rated trailer... :shaking:

hey now i rebuilt the Z71 into a HD, it pulls what I want it to SAFELY ;)

whats wrong with my trailer, its bigger than alot of guys I see, and I got brakes on both axles, she stops when I want her to :driver:

So now you have to have a 'big' trailer?

Mine is a 6'x12', and although I wouldn't mind having something wide enough that I didn't have to drive over the fenders, this one is PERFECT for my truck. It is not an inch larger than what I need, and tows like a dream. For the most part, I can't tell it is back there, no ill effects when towing that I have noticed, and for the $$$ I have in it, I REALLY can't complain (grandpa gave it to me, all I had to do was pay tag/title fees- $52)
