I'd went down to URE, NC a couple months back for CNC4X4's fall fling & couldn't really do anything b/c my tires would rub my rock sliders/step.
Kinda sucked. So I thought I'd buy me tube fenders. I had seen a pair I liked on a Jeep at the Galloway bash earlier in the day. Did some pricing. So then I did some research & figured "hey I can fab these things up myself".
All I needed was some tube, welder, bender & time to do it all. I sat down & come up with my design from some pics of numerous fenders on the web (kinda meshed what I liked all together) & added some of my own ideas.
The one I think sets them apart is the tinted Plexiglass flare insert & the Herculiner is alittle different.
I may even Herculine the whole exterior eventually.
But not any time soon b/c I just painted the Jeep military flat black. Any comments are welcome.

Ooops

Those pics are way bigger than I thought they would be.

I haven't seen any that look like this before... they are certainly unique. Good work.

How did you tie the tubing in at the rear? Most of the ones I've seen replace the original fender and attach at a plate along the tub. I can't quite tell, but is there a plate or tubing hidden behind the original fender that secures it to the tub?

actually nicer and stronger looking than some for sale ive seen! i like the plexiglass-replacable, and you can see the rocks right through them!

Nice job. I think you've created a look that is much better than most of them out there.

Did you cut up an old set of fenders, or did you fab up some sheet metal?

Response

TheGriz, yes I did tie in the outer flare to the main bar. It's much more sound this way. I'll try to attach a pic of it.

CrashKnott, patience & time. This was my first set so it was a learning experience.
bigjeeprob, thanks I wanted it to be different. You can change the inserts out to whatever color to match your Jeep.
BlackSheep, I had an extra set of fenders that I used as a template.

If any body is interested I may build up some more. I've got my other set of fenders I could go by to fab them up. The only thing that would have to be done after they were fab'd is for me to tweak them to fit who ever's Jeep's fenders. That would mean cutting your fenders. You could always get a spare pair in case you change your mind down the road.

***Got bored again, lol***

Decided to fab me up some removable rear tube fenders for Kraken. Figure it will help out with the mud that pours in thru back gap in windows (ask 71chevytruckguy, lol) and make it appear wider looking at it from front or behind it. Doesn't hinder my view of obstacles at all:Rockon:. Used Lexan this time instead of acrylic (bigger tires = bigger rocks). Will build front set when I get a front bumper.
Cut out the Lexan
