Went to Fayett Nam today and picked this up from zukitough. Me likey! Cant wait to tuck the Scout in there and take off going racing! The old 96 F350 only burnt 23 gallons of diesel fuel round trip Concord to Fayetteville, pulling a trailer each way.

It's been for sale for six months.

Hell, Ron was talking about buying it for a little while.

Ron has way more time online than I do... :flipoff2:

I'm never privy to his inquiries and never really have enough time to venture away from the ECORS section... Ugh...

well damn! wish I had seen that for sale... :(

If it makes you feel any better, every time I touch the frame (with the 110 plugged in) it has shocked the :poop: out of me. Still havent figured that one out all the way yet. Put a meter on every wire in it and nothing is shorted out. No breakers are flipped, no bare wires. An electrician buddy said the outlet on the outside of the house I am plugged into may have the white wire on the wrong terminal of the outlet. Told me a story about a toddler crawling up on a counter and when his body made contact from the stainless steel sink to the fridge, it electrocuted the child. It had been plugged in and running for years but standing on the wooden floor it wouldnt shock you. The outlet was wired wrong and it was looking for a ground. I hope that is my problem. I am going to plug it in somewhere else tomorrow and check it. To frickin' hot to be working inside it with no A/C blowing!:D

I never understood that... why do they build a 24' trailer and then stick a pair of 3500# axles under it?

Must just be "because they can"...

I figure it's to meet a price point in the market and maybe an assumption by the manufacturer that everyone will be hauling pillows or empty boxes? :D

I pulled dads swb pick up into it and hauled it around for a few miles today. The torsion axles had about half left travel when loaded. The Dexter tag says they are 5000 pounders. They are big square tubes, thats for sure and it has brakes on all 4's.:smokin:I like that! I took it up to 75 and swayed it around a little, it has a load leveler hitch and you couldnt tell it was back there. Now if I can just get it to quit shocking me, we will be in business!

Hey Tom - have you tried putting one of those plugs into the outlet that tells you if the outlet was wired properly? You can pick them up pretty cheap at Lowes or Home Depot. I think there are three lights on it and you plug it into the outlet. Depending on how many lights are on and which ones are on, it tells you if its wired right, wrong, and if wrong what is wrong.

Went to Golden Gait Trailer and got some AC 10 seam sealer. Jumped on the ladder and went to town before the rain got here. That shiny metal roof was a frickin' beast in the heat today! I can say that AC10 is the trick for older trailers with previous caulking on them. It flows right down into all the little cracks and crannys and smoothes itself right out. Took 2 tubes for the 24 footer. Good stuff.

Got one today and it showed me the problem! Thanks!:bounce:

It had nothing to do with the trailer. The outlet on the side of the house was wired backwards. Funny thing is, nothing else has ever shocked me using that outlet before. Maybe the fact that it sits on rubber tires and was looking for a ground? ... I dunno. I swapped the black and white wires on the receptacle and it was all good! I got hit hard a couple times:eek: , glad to have that fixed.

Be sure and check the panel in the trailer, too. You want to be sure that the neutral and ground are *not* bonded in the trailer. The neutral should never touch the chassis. Thats how the hot was getting to you.

I agree with you on that, Shawn. My buddy is over plant maintenence at UNCC. He went over the trailer panel with a fine tooth comb. He also had a probe that he connected to the shore power cord and to the chassis of the trailer to check for that. It all checked out good. Plus the fact that it never shocked the previous owner. After having my ass lit up a couple times, I still kinda' hesitate when I touch it! Hehe!

Well that's great news. For a minute i thought maybe HGR had rewired something wrong and i felt bad selling it to you. Glad the trailer is ok. Gonna modify the one i got from you with a tire rack and a spare junk cage. Can you get a BOM for the homebuilt?

Yep, I will send a BOM and your tag to you. Did you find the key to the door latch?

I just thought something shifted and started rubbing on metal or maybe a screw was run into a wire somewhere. I wasnt thinking that you knew about it or anything, it was just driving me crazy trying to figure it out. I was loosing my religion after the 2nd shock! That crap hurts when you are on all fours in the damp grass, looking up under the trailer!
