This car is starting to annoy me. :kaioken: 99 Grand Chrokee, 4.0. Everything's stock
As I was driving down the road on the way back to boone from gso, I took a turn into my apartment complex and my car did what i can only describe as electronically died. The dashboard lights, the radio, and the little overhead thingy flashed. The radio stopped and all the lights turned off, but the engine kept running. 3-5 seconds later, everything turned back on, and my car beeped at me and my abs and e-brake lights on the dashed turned on. This has happend 3 times since then.
Do I have a short somewhere? or do I need to get my cpu reflashed? or should I just blow it up with an IED?

Get used to it pissing you off. It's "that Jeep thing". That's why I drive a Toyota. Sorry nothing constructive to say, but blowing it up would be a good start.

Tell your dad to do himself a favor and get a Toyota.

Sorry, I'm just biased.

We have a 2002 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0. 1 year ago ours did the same thing when we were driving from Wilmington to Huntersville. I stopped and bought a wire brush and cleaned the battery posts and it never happened again. Try that before you do anything that costs money!

Ther must be a bad connection on tht main power supply circuit or a bad ground, Check the battery cables and all the connection to the starter and th steering column.

hey Reed, sound like u r have sercuity problems, check the fuses on the passenger side, beside the glove box, use a dmm to check the fuses, that should work, i had the same problem from about a hour and finally fixed it

Check/clean all power connections that you can get to, and stop calling it a car. That will only piss it off more.

A buddy of mine had that same problem, and it turned out that two of his motor mounts were broken. Since its a 99 though, I'm not sure if that's a possibility, but I guess you could check it out.

Hi! My friend had the same problem like what you are experiencing now. One night while he's driving car home from work, the head lights on and the radio is playing, he experienced a loss of power. The headlight starts on blinking. A beeping noise from the climate control system and the a/c shut down, then he lost the cluster lights...
After a day he checked his Jeep Headlight and he found out that there are slightly cutted wires on it. He fixed it by reconnecting the said slightly cutted wires well and he tried to start the engine car......it works! The headlight stopped blinking. But one thing he is still wondering.... The slightly cutted wires...
But, you try also to refer from your Jeep Repair Manual... I hope what I share to you may help to solve your problem. Goodluck!
